Hard Kr has learned that smart glasses maker INMO Technology recently completed a Series C3 financing led by the Sichuan Revitalization Science and Technology Innovation Fund. Jing'an Capital, Shibei Hi-Tech, Guangzhou Industrial Investment, Sichuan Pilot Testing, Meishan Pilot Testing and Dongpo State-owned Investment also participated.

Following its Series C1 and C2 rounds earlier this year, INMO Technology has now raised nearly 1 billion yuan across its Series C financing. The company said the latest proceeds will primarily fund research and development for its next-generation spatial intelligence hardware lineup, upgrades to INMO AIOS, and brand and omnichannel expansion.

INMO Technology said it has begun preparations for a public listing and has maintained relatively rapid revenue growth in recent years.

Smart Glasses Evolve Into Standalone Devices

Smart glasses continue to draw attention across the consumer electronics market. IDC data shows that global shipments of AI smart glasses grew by more than 200% year over year in 2025. According to RUNTO Technology, omnichannel sales of smart glasses in China reached 909,000 units in the first half of 2026, up 85.5% year over year, while revenue rose 98.7% to 1.88 billion yuan.

Many smart glasses currently on the market still combine Birdbath optics with an external computing unit. The display sits in the glasses, but computing power and some core functions continue to rely on a smartphone or another external device.

INMO Technology founder and CEO Yang Longsheng believes that smart glasses must operate independently, offer value distinct from smartphones and remain comfortable for everyday wear if they are to become the next generation of computing devices.

Yang said the market is shifting from smartphone accessories toward standalone smart devices. In the first quarter of 2026, AI smart glasses with displays accounted for 60% of sales. The sales split between all-in-one AR glasses and tethered products also shifted from 9:91 in the first quarter of 2025 to 47:53 in the second quarter of 2026.

Focus on Integrated Optical Waveguides and Spatial AI

Founded in late 2020, INMO Technology has long focused on consumer smart glasses. The company is pursuing a lightweight, integrated architecture that brings optical displays, on-device computing and AI perception into the glasses themselves, reducing dependence on smartphones and external computing units.

The company launched full-color optical-waveguide smart glasses in 2021. Its AIR3 model, released in 2024, uses a 0.44-inch Micro-OLED display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080. INMO said its GO series, launched in 2023, focuses on business use cases such as translation and teleprompting.

Hardware integration also requires a complex balance among optics, computing power, power consumption, heat dissipation, weight and wearing comfort. The glasses must fit a battery, chips, antennas, speakers and optical display components into limited physical space while keeping overall weight and pressure on the wearer under control.

On the software side, INMO Technology positions INMO AIOS as an AI-native spatial operating system. The company said the platform supports spatial positioning, mixed-reality rendering, gesture interaction, multimodal contextual understanding, agent task orchestration and tool use.

INMO said its technology uses an edge-cloud architecture: latency-sensitive positioning and rendering tasks run on the device, while larger-scale scene reconstruction and complex computing are handled in the cloud.

Product Lines Span Spatial Computing and AI Interaction

INMO Technology said its AIR series primarily delivers spatial computing capabilities, while the GO series places greater emphasis on voice interaction and agent functionality. The product lines share an underlying technology platform, with capabilities tiered according to each product's positioning.

The company believes competition in smart glasses extends beyond hardware specifications to include the efficiency of allocating limited on-device computing power, as well as the real-world experience of spatial interaction and AI features.

INMO is developing differentiated products for specific users and scenarios. It has partnered with WHL to launch the INMO x Magic AI series and is also developing products such as camera glasses for women, covering use cases including fashion, sports, family life and everyday recording.

Yang Longsheng said the value of smart glasses lies not in simply replicating a smartphone's display functions, but in embedding spatial computing and AI capabilities into a frequently worn device to create a more natural form of human-computer interaction.

To build its ecosystem, INMO plans to offer visual orchestration tools and an SDK that will help developers build applications and adapt them across devices. It is also developing content and partnerships around use cases including mobile work, navigation and travel, and location-based gaming.
