On September 28, a launch event for embodied intelligence robots running on domestically developed electronic architecture was held in Yichang, hosted by the Yichang municipal government, the Hubei Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, and the Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission. The world's first embodied intelligence robot built on a fully domestic electronic architecture was unveiled at the event.
Electronic Architecture as the Robot's "Intelligent Nervous System"
The electronic architecture is regarded as the foundation that sets the performance ceiling of a complete robot, spanning the operating system, networking, tool software, and AI computing chips.
If a robot is compared to a person, the AI model is the brain that does the thinking, while the electronic architecture works like the nervous system linking perception, decision-making, and movement. Even a model capable of complex reasoning cannot turn its decisions into reliable action without a stable, efficient electronic architecture.
According to the organizers, the fully domestic electronic architecture unveiled at the event separates yet integrates the control system and AI computing, building a domestic technology foundation that runs from AI decision-making through to physical execution and giving the robotics industry an alternative to foreign solutions.
Passing Security Tests From Joint Damage to Network Attacks
In the technical validation session, testers from the China Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Center ran comparative tests on robots using different electronic architectures, covering scenarios such as joint damage, network attacks, and virus injection.
The results showed that robots using conventional electronic architectures suffered circuit failures, sudden shutdowns, and loss of system control under some extreme conditions. The robot running the fully domestic electronic architecture kept operating steadily, demonstrating real-time control, fast response, fault isolation, attack resistance, and system security.
In practice, that means when a robot hits a hardware fault or a cybersecurity threat, the system can isolate the anomaly to a degree, keep critical functions running, and prevent a localized failure from spreading to the whole machine.
Drawing Safety Boundaries for Physical AI
As embodied intelligence moves out of the lab and into factories, warehouses, transportation, and public services, robots must not only "see, reason, and act" but also be safe, controllable, and accountable.
A fully domestic electronic architecture allows clearer safety boundaries to be set around a robot's autonomous behavior and reduces reliance on outside solutions for critical hardware and software. Building a safety control system designed for physical AI means robots operate under tighter constraints on permissions, communications, and fault management while carrying out tasks.
In terms of industry trajectory, domestic robotics is shifting from isolated breakthroughs in individual components toward coordinated development across operating systems, communication networks, AI chips, control software, and complete machine systems. The debut of this fully domestic electronic architecture robot marks another step for China's foundational robotics technology toward hardware-software integration and self-reliance across the entire supply chain.
